When my team first took on BTC, it was still known as Ballard Telephone Cooperative. A rural phone company, servicing a small county, that had taken experimental steps in television and internet services just to stay alive. We knew their capabilities and we knew their audience…this time down to specific targeting data!
The road ahead was simple: Turn this dying utility into a region-wide multimedia brand recognized for commercial-level service, at small town prices.
From the logo to the website, every element of BTC’s marketing was now driven toward the human connections facilitated by their brand. Graphics were modern and minimal, while keeping the photography nostalgic and steeped in rural culture. The visual language was expanded to “color-code” their services and streamline communications. I wrote the script for the brand launch video, and it was the same script I used to present the rebrand to the client:
We remember technology, not for what it is but for what it allows us to do. We don’t remember when the rocket was invented…we remember watching a man walk on the moon. Technology has changed a lot since then, but we still connect with each other in new and exciting ways. And at the center of all those connections? BTC. Bringing Technology Closer.
